Born under challenging circumstances, his life began as a testament to his mother’s unwavering strength and sacrifice. Jean D’Amour’s mother, a high school student at the time of his birth, faced immense societal pressure, abandonment, and rejection. Despite battling mental health struggles and the weight of being a single parent, she chose life and hope for her son. Her determination and belief in a brighter future became the foundation for Jean D’Amour’s unwavering dedication to empowering vulnerable communities.

Drawing from his early experiences of witnessing firsthand the consequences of societal stigma, poverty, and neglect, Jean D’Amour cultivated a vision of a world where no individual feels abandoned or without hope. He channeled his personal story into a professional mission, co-founding Heal the World Community Development (HWCD) in 2022. As the Executive Director, he leads the organization with a focus on three critical pillars: mental health advocacy, poverty alleviation, and education access for vulnerable populations across Rwanda.

Jean D’Amour’s leadership is deeply rooted in empathy, inspired by the challenges he overcame as a child. Under his stewardship, HWCD has launched impactful initiatives, such as providing education support for children, empowering women and youth through vocational training, and addressing the stigma surrounding mental health. His innovative approach combines grassroots involvement with strategic partnerships, ensuring sustainable and community-led development.
